Do you think? I think the way the brown is resting maybe prevents him from cueing/applying the amount of spin he might have wanted to? Also the closer proximity to the rails could have felt prohibitive in the moment (naturally it's hard to know such things without actually knowing Selby lol)

Maybe I am tripping here, but I don't see it working from the other side. Not with the lay of the cueball/brown, and proximity to the cushions on that side. I know it didn't work this side either haha

Wait I just rechecked and I had dyslexed the shot. He did shoot to the open side but maybe he could've hit deeper into the top rail and gone two rails into the pack.

I was wrong. Here is the 3rd part. The ref called it a miss after that shot and play continued. I must have been thinking of a similar layout that finally got a hit.
