This was last night against Raul Abenojar - a good player that is one of 3 players that usually wins our Friday and Sat. night tournaments. Mike Z - my husband- and James Davee (they have all been my scotch doubles partners and I have won with all 3, but James is my current partner) round out the list. Last Saturday I beat Mike and James to win the tourney
I broke and made a stripe. At this tournament, you are what you make. I had stripes. I had my 13 tied up and in trouble, but I had a good break ball with the 14. My first shot was too straight in and I wanted to be a little below the 14 to have a good breakout angle for the 13. I tried stunning the 10 ball and cheating the pocket a little, but with not much success.

I landed too straight on the 14, so I had to cheat the pocket and stun it again.

Unfortunately, all I broke out was the 3 and the 13 was still in trouble.

I went and measured the line I would have to line up on to sneak in on the short side of the 13 off the 12 ball. It was a pretty tight fit! I would need a touch of right and good speed control, as well as good direction. I hit it *almost* perfect, with the ball coming back off the rail about an inch.

Raul called a ref for the double hit. I whacked it clean and it dribbled into the corner pocket with a little right. I was more concerned about popping the cueball off the table. It left me great on the 15, but as sometimes happens after a great shot, you rush on the next one and I hit it a little too fat and left a little too much angle on the 11, but still ok.

I was playing the speed to come about the level of the side pocket, (also not to draw or spin it too much to scratch in the side) but it was just out of my reach (should have used the bridge).

I came down too low, almost hooking myself and I cut it in the corner for the win.

I then played Mike who ran out beautifully after I failed to pocket a ball on his rack. So I took 3rd and $50 buckaroos. James and Mike came in 1st and 2nd splitting $180.
