Thoughts of the Tournament Director

Hey Lamar, I was just told if you go to the IPT site, click on the schedule link, you will find an archive link at the top.

Shame on us for thinking the IPT would fail to have such an important link on their site. LOL

Hey Jake,
Thanks for the info, I'll check it out.

There were three in Marietta, I believe - Peach on Friday, Van Boening on Saturday, and someone else (I forget who) on Sunday...?

Hey Scott,
Thanks to Jake (jjinfla), I've reviewed the IPT archive files.

Kevin Becker (Holland?), was the 3rd player to run 6 racks in Marietta, IPT Qualifier A, at 'THE POOL ROOM'.

I agree with what you say!

Just returned from the IPT website, they have revised their home page. Now you can just click "Event Archive" (upper right corner of home page).

At Hard Times the pockets in the Tournament Room are definitely 4 1/4" and on the other side the pockets are 4.5". The day before the qualifier I was talking to Steve, the Hard Times table mechanic, about the pockets and he confirmed the pocket sizes. Some guys have stopped coming in because of the new cloth but the tournament side is still pretty much full during the day. I am not a big fan of the new cloth being a recreational player and having always played on Simonis. Obviously the better players have no problem adjusting since I witnessed the highest quality of pool imagininable during the qualifier. Many of the guys are waiting to see what happens when the current cloth begins to wear.

some thoughts

I work for a living and never get to play in any events but it goes without saying if the cloth is like the old time cloth the players should switch to old equipment! I wish all tournaments were played on slow cloth and the players actually had use a mighty stroke and a 21 oz cue to get there! Many of the old pros have said this very thing for years well basicly since the 860 became more wide spread in its use. Put any top player on slow cloth that plays with a modern light cue and their stroke seems to crumble because it is not as powerful as a old slap stroke combined with a heavy cue! I didn't know about the cloth thing. I wonder was it Mikes idea? Good move I say. Double george. Nick
