Thoughts on breaking down your stick?

I'm guessing the room owner lost for fouling unless the roadie conceded.
That’s exactly what happened. Eventually. The owner actually cried for about twenty minutes claiming the roadie gave it him but the guy never moved a muscle.

I see players and leagues have different views on this. If your break you cue down then it is a forfeit but what if a player is breaking down his stick to change shafts?

Some say it is a shark tactic....breaking your stick and your opponent misses but the players proceeds to screw on another shaft different than the one he took off.

So when is the appropriate time to change your shaft or is it an automatic forfeit.

Another scenario....playing a ring game with others.....if anyone stands up while I'm on the 10 ball.....I immediately pick the ball out of the pocket and rack them and collect my money. I take it as a sign they expect me to make it. They're waiting to pay me.
That's the rule where I play. If you leave your seat while your opponent is at the table, you are giving him the game

Did it once when I first started league because of how angry/disgusted I was at myself. My opponent was in the middle of a runout until he missed on the 8. He was on the hill and I ended up taking the match. Sometimes drinking can be bad but mostly I just have problems with anger so I've since taken pool way less seriously (until I'm practicing or playing that ghost asshole.) Still want to win, don't like to lose... but it's ok. :)

I wonder how many people here would actually feel "sharked" by someone taking their cue apart.

I wouldn't feel sharked, but if they seemed like they were in a hurry to leave for the night, I'd give them a reverse shark. Tell them I would shoot the rest in in a second but I need to take a quick bathroom break. They will either forfeit or get an additional 5 minutes to stew over the outcome. 😅

It's not a matter of if it will affect you or not, it's the action of conceding that is the core of it. There are two reasons someone will make a "move", they are either actually conceding the game as won, or trying to distract the player successful or not does not matter. Both situations should have the same result. No one should be saying "it's the other guy's fault for falling for the cheat move and getting distracted". It's the same as blaming someone for date rape because they dressed sexy or getting shot because they did not duck fast enough. I have the same view on hustling by hiding how well a person plays, if you are trying to cheat someone by pretending you can't play, using the excuse "you can't cheat an honest man" is just a cop-out to try to justify the bad action. I mean it's like saying "Oh look at this silly person believing me when I played bad, It's his fault for believing I'm an honest person".

And we wonder why TV networks aren't interested in pool.
