Three 3 Best Cue Makers in the World

Never did get to shoot with any Runde era Schons, but my CX61 from Evan Clark is still quite nice. :)

There are many quality cues out there. I’ve had built for me with wood I’ve supplied;

Mike Bender
Dennis Searing
Southwest (First if not only Pernambuco Cue)
Perry Weston
Bill Schick
Steve Dunkel
Jerry Rauenzahn ( Fastest most dependable on ETA)
John Bender ( no relation to Mike)

and a few lesser known

Cues not sent wood

Gus and Barry Szamboti
Gina
Hercek
McDermott
Huebler
Josh (Colorado)
Fisher
Cam

Non of them were duds. My only regret is I still don’t own them.

I currently have a Steve Dunkel Jamaican Cocus Cue( one of only Jamaican Cocus Cues I know of; the Other was a Dennis Searing I sent the wood for and Caner made me sell)

The other is a wrapless Mike Bender Ebony and Red Mallee wood points. I know Mike personally not a neighbor but before and after he moved to Alaska. Still it was a 4 yr old build. It’s my least complex cue but is elegant and sexy and points are perfection (as always). You really can’t name a Best but Mikes cues are flawless and play, and I’ll put although no where the years of experience Steve Dunkel there or trailing by a smidge. When Steve sent me my cue he told me it was the best leather wrap he’d done to date. Just yesterday I asked two good friends and knowledge layers to tell me where the leather wrap joint was; Niether one could point it out and I’d guess I’ve had Steve’s Cue 6 years. Steve treated me right I requested mother of Pearl inlays and his tathe broke down and sent Ivory. On top of that his cue PLAYS. I requested one of his low deflection shafts and a good friend of mine that plays a Diviney Cue and Won the Alaska Fur Rondy Tournament asked to use the cue and that was five yrs ago and ran a nine ball rack with it it. Last night he actually asked to use it again and told me he really liked the contour and hit of the Shaft. I haven’t followed Steve much on here of late. I would imagine he is becoming more well accepted and if so deserving. Long and short if you want a Mike Bender from Mike wait or buy second hand or a dealer or wait 4 yrs at least. If you want a equally playing if not name reconition cue Talk to Steve Dunkel ( although his time line has probably grown) give me either one they will out play me!!!

I had a Gus Szamboti I got in 1986 for 1200.00 I played for 18 yrs. My dad why $1200.00 for a cue. Sold to Mark Griffon for $8000.00 wish I still had it!!
