Item 1......got knocked out of the Open Amateur in 3rd Round....was really hoping to play Shaun Wilkie for the championship of Bracket 1....but unfortunately it did not happen.....

Item 2.....What a nice guy Charlie Bryant is. Talked with him a couple of times when he was out smoking (even during his matches). He was a little down talking about how his mother and his young cousin (whom he had helped to raise) died exactly 6 months to the day after eachother......he really was wearing his emotions on his sleeve as they say telling me how what a difficult time he was having concentrating on playing pool.....I didn't know what to say so I just mentioned something we both knew --> Put it in the Lord's hands--they're big enough to handle it! It sounded hollow when I said it but Charlie seemed to agree that's what was best......as hard as it is to do.

Item 3.....I sat down to watch my buddy's first match on Friday in the Seniors Tournament and right in front of me it looks like Barry Behrman...so rather than go stand in front of him and look at his face....I said out loud (to nobody in particuar) "That looks just like Barry Behrman".....sure enough he turned around and shook his head saying he WAS Barry!........Turns out his buddy was playing on the table next to my buddy. I told him I had listened to the hour or so sound bite from that show when Aaron Czetli, Corey, Dee and the guys called him on his take about "IPT scheduling conflict"...he wanted my opinion as to where the public stood on the issue....and I assured him that I was 100% in agreement with him that the IPT dissed him by not giving him more advance notice (i.e. he got a phone call from Dino on a Tuesday informing him of the press release coming out on Wednesday....clearly not right........)...also told him that I believe 95% of the general pool public felt the same way.....that being it's not so much that the IPT scheduled a tournament on the same dates as his US Open, but rather the way they handled it was not very professional.......for all Barry's done for pool I felt he deserved better........he was traveling with his little dog (cross between a dachsund and setter or something....I told him his dog was so well behaved that the dog must be on Quaaludes or something! We talked while we watched our respective friends play (his buddy played pretty good) and when I left he told me how glad he was that I said something.......

Item 4.......Saw Frank Alvarez sitting in UPA booth and decided to just ask him about the "Danny Harriman feud".......Frank seemed genuinely disturbed about it and basically stuck to his side of the story that he had done all he could do to rectify the situation.....and that he and Danny used to be good friends.......he thinks Danny is simply bitter.....also said that he never "bullied" Danny in any way.....and that Tony Robles saw things the same way.......I was impressed with Frank Alvarez in the brief conversation we had.....although a couple of years back at Valley Forge I spoke with Danny Harriman and he seemed like a great guy also......I don't know who's right or wrong....who's lying or telling the truth etc........I left and said I wish Danny was playing more.....Frank said he did too........Frank then shook my hand and said he was "really glad" I stopped and chatted with him

Item 5.......I noticed that Telly Kirkilis, a kid who finished 2nd last year at Valley Forge in the 18 and under Amateur event finished in top 4 in Open Amateur event this year......that dude can play.......

Item 6......Spoke with Thorsten Hohman in the morning when I was checking out a couple of pros practicing in the Arena.......just asked him what he likes better "simonis they were playing on at Valley Forge" or "slow-nap cloth of IPT"..........kind of a dumb question I guess huh??? Anyway of course he said it was a no-brainer......he loves the Simonis and feels it is a better test of pool playing ability and that you get "truer" rolls.....

Item 7.......I'm so sorry I didn't get to go to any AZB Meet and Greets:( It seems I never have enough time to do everything I want to do at VF.....but I did manage to recognize the 9BallGirl Wendy as she was walking in the Pro Arena on Saturday night......I said hello ....she said hello.......I considered that brief encounter my "meet & greet"........

Item 8.......Maybe I drank a little too much Budweiser but it looked like some fishy things were going on "in the Pit"........I wonder what percentage of games are NOT on the "up and up" there........I think we all know that occasionally players take a dive there......I don't think it happens all that often but you can not convince me that it NEVER happens;)

Just my 2 cents worth.......

I think you had to win a few more rounds to win the bracket. If I remember, you had to win 5 or six matches to win the bracket. I went three rounds too, but was definately a couple of rounds away. FWIW, Josh Brothers won my bracket, then went on to bigger and better...

Me too...

Were you following me?
I got knocked out my third round of the Ladies Amateur....just far enough to get my entry back, not bad for my first big event in 8 years.

I also spent time with Charlie Bryant... super nice guy, I ran into him at the XBreaker booth. Where I got my first XBreaker!!!! Wow that thing is awesome. Charlie spent some time teaching me jump technique, which came in really handy during my matches. I didn't miss hitting a single jump shot, and I pocketed 3 of the 5 shots I tried. :D I got practice time with him on Thursday night on the practice tables downstairs, he's an incredible teacher. You're right he really is struggling and is wearing his heart on his sleeve. He did just make my list of "players to watch", I hate seeing people struggle.

Talked to Barry too... we always schedule our U.S. Open Warm Up event the weekend right before the Open. So, Barry moves that event, we move our event. IPT got us on that one too. But, we're all trying to work together now a days anyway. It's just better for the players to have as much opportunity as possible, happy players means happy tour directors. I did almost steal the dog.

I did make one AZ meet and greet - I got to meet the "infamous" Romanos! Fantastic people!! Hey Edyie - since I can't play in my own events, maybe I'll make the trek up to see you sometime for some tournament play. ;) I met 9ball Girl briefly too. Hello Wendy!

My funniest moment of the entire tournament.... making Timberly laugh so hard during the pro matches she started snorting!!! She actually had to put her head under the table. I had left the convention to go back to my hotel because I was running out of cigarettes, I was staying in Plymouth Meeting instead of right by the convention center. An HOUR later I finally made it back, where I explained to Timberly that I had paid the toll 4 freakn' times, seen my hotel from the highway twice and ran out of cigarettes at my first toll booth!! I called my hubby in Northern Virginia who pulled up maps and directed me back to my hotel, and then back to the convention center. Timberly apparently finds my pain hysterical. I'm sure she's still laughing now if she's reading this.

Best time I've had at Valley Forge yet! Those are my tidbits.

Yes I am. :D

Remember the movie European Vacation? Remember them in the traffic circle...stuck? LOL, they spent all day & most of the night stuck in the traffic circle... "look kids, there's Big Ben"

Look Ceci, there's your hotel :p

9BK, thanks for sharing your tidbits. Everyone always has a different experience with different people at a large event.

If you were in the pro arena, you probably saw me & didn't know it was me. I was in the VIP section to the right of the entrance. I was on the computer and everyone said that they could all see me because the computer lit up my face in an otherwise dark area. If you saw her, that was me. ;)

The PA Turnpike Authority made an announcement today that rates were being reduced temporarily due to the generosity of one Maryland driver from last weekend. :p  :D

To the 9 ball King

I would like to say that Frank is kind of convincing in his act of genuine sincerity when he want's to be, the truth is that Frank and I were never friend's. Do not be fooled by his deceiving manner, he is a in fact a people manipulator and that I'm sorry to say is where Frank's greatest talent's shine. He is only friendly and sincere when he need's to be. There is a reason why I'm not competing on the UPA besides the FACT that I'm owed $ from one of their tournament's that they sanctioned. Pool is a political contest party right now and some of the best player's in the game are not with the in crowd. We all get our kick's in someway, my way is by being in a pressure cooker situation against one of the best player's in the world and making sure I don't dog it, Frank's way is being in a position of power where it is his way or the highway, I am not bitter toward's the UPA or pool but my Mom did'nt raise a complete 'dummy' and I know a phony when I see one.
Sincerely, Danny Harriman

BRAT!!
I just got back online today...had to cut off my cable service due to a shortage in the change jar (jk). I'm sure you would have been ROFLYAO just like Timberly if you'd been there when I told the story...something tells me you'd find joy in my pain as well! Lets see, what do I always call Timberly - oh yeah, HOOCH!

That's okay! I'll wait to hear it again the next time we share a room! :D

Sorry you had to make extra donations!

I know just how you feel, I had similar bad experiences with all the changes to the entrance and exit ramps around VF this year. If these are supposed to be improvements to the traffic pattern, I would like to know how it's better. It just seems like someone needed an extra road building contract so they could pay for their summer home!

Who the heck are any of us to begrudge Danny's resentment? I can guarantee you that if I went to work all week and they stiffed me come pay day that I would make a stink of it. You would too, providing you have a job. All it cost me to go to work is gas. Danny had travel expenses.... gas and/or airfare, meals, & hotel costs.

Not to mention hearing from the horses mouth as well as speaking with Jamison at the event. Big difference between speculation and first hand knowledge.

FWIW, I'd be pissed off too.
