Charles Porter? Ok I finally went to see this table for sale. the guy stated that it was a Charles Porter table "tiffany" model. It turns out to be a Tiffany table the Athenia model serial #1269 from 1967. A plaque on the table states a Charles Porter design. The guy even had a brochure from the company.

Tiffany tables LTD.
13335 Ventura blvd.
Sherman oaks, California 91403
Tel # 213 981-6161

the list price of the table was $4295.00 in 1967

So finally the question. Ever heard of it? I inspected the table and it appears to be solid wood construction, the wood was in need of help. 40 plus years and It didn't look as though anyone had ever cleaned or polished the wood. and the rails appear to have been replaced. the wood tone was not the same as the cabinet. the wife said no more projects so I wlill have to let this one go. but from a history side, I would like to know if anyone knows about this company and their tables.
thanks
Michael

If anyone would like to see a copy of the broucher let me know and i will fax it to you. the guy made me a copy.

Michael, from the pictures the table looks pretty good. It common for older tables to have a exotic wood top rail that is different from the rest of the table.

I completely agree. If the wife said no more projects then this looks like the table for you!

That Gobelin table is gorgeous!
Thanks for the link!

Purchased this table

I purchased this table. It is very nice.

Donny Wessels installed it for me. I also had new pockets installed, courtesy of Donny.

He did an excellent job and I highly recommend him.

After polishing up the table with furniture polish and having the new pockets it looks wonderful.

Donny is a class act hard to follow down in southeren california.

Glad to here it,

Craig

I enjoyed working on this table. There rail design was built the same as the Renaissance tables. This table had a pre-superspeed cushions from brunswick, guessing "Tru-speed" couldn't read that part. The slate screws went directly into the 2" frame.

Thanks Ron, let see some picts.

This story has a humorous twist. Maybe Ron will share it with you.
