Hi All,

Thanks to Great Slates room owner John Moody, we have internet connectivity right here in the pool room so I'll have updates all weekend long. The chart will be updated at http://www.planet-pool.com on the front page.

So far I see Parica, Deo Alpojara, Kiamco, Slivka, Hopkins, Shuff, Joey Ryan, Walter Koch, James Conn, Don Steele and Ed Deska all warming up.

Player's meeting starts shortly.

Andy

We are underway. The chart is up on http://www.planet-pool.com

Calcutta

Warren Kiamco first blind bid
Earl Strickland second blind bid
Parica, Putnam, Mike Davis and Jason Kirkwood went next highest

Parica and Hopkins are the early winners of their first round matches.

Hello again,

Finally got internet connectivity back again. The chart has been updated on http://www.planet-pool.com

Just 9 tables to work with so things will go a little late tonight - maybe 11:00 trying to get down to 24 players.

Strickland advanced over Slivka 9-8 in the back room with about 100 fans listening to Earl's banter.

Chris Szuter played a fine match 9-3 over Mike Davis.

Hi All,

Last 8 undefeated for Sunday noon are:

Szuter vs Putnam
Kirkwood vs Kiamco
Alpojara vs BJ Ussery
Steve Lillis vs Strickland

Still 36 left on one loss side. We'll be going to at least 1:00 am. The band is playing and the place is packed.

TheOne played well against Earl and held an early lead...
I fought back but fell short to Alpojara 9-7.

Chart is updated on http://www.planet-pool.com

Kevin West

Andy-

Do you know if Kevin West is playing in the Open. I didn't see his name on the players list. Don't know if he knows that the field is full.

Any Action????

Is John Moody's son really playing that well now adays. I remember giving him weight!

Thanks for the updates, Andy. Sorry I can't be there to see the action :(

Kevin is not playing in the Open. The field filled up and caught him off guard. He's playing well, too.

John Jr. has really stepped up his game. No doubt about it.

No action because the tournament itself went to almost 2:00 closing time.

Jim Parker is hanging in there knocking off Frankie Hernandez last night.
Brandon Shuff and Mike Davis are playing right now with Davis rolling 6-0 and breaking.
BJ Ussery and Shawn Putnam are still on the winner side final eight.

Brits and AZBilliard posters Craig Riley and Tony Crosby are playing each other. Riley came off a 7-6 win and Crosby came off a 7-0 win.

Kiamco and Kirkwood are at 5-4 Jason. These 2 guys are playing the best pool in the tourney so far beating qualified opponents 9-0 and 9-1!

Andy

This just in from Timberly, our smiling correspondent in the feature room, Putnam over Szuter 9-4.

Davis finished Shuff 7-1.

Vintage Earl. Did he give you a mid-match monologue how many titles he has and how he should win the match despite trailing badly ? It's just not fair if he loses... sigh.

Don't give up, you'll get him one day.... that day will be The One ! Pun intended :p

Just a few words about the tourny. I drove down here with Tony C, Richard B and Ronnie P. What should been a 5 hour journey took about 8 hours which wouldn't have been too bad if it wasn't for Tony's smelly feet!

We was lucky enough to get in the local Holiday Inn and we had a short practise in what is a very nice room, Great Slates indeed. The tables play a little strange though, the cloth is slow and the rails are very quick. I met Walter (aka blackballed) and the infamous Timberely (aka Timberely he he) and many other Az posters. After the Earl disaster I talked the guys into having a few beers since the pool room had now turned into a disco with a live Band and wall to wall p....err....people! I didn't need to talk Timberely into anything as she had already had about 7 beers and was half cut. Anyway about 7 double vodka redbulls later its 3am and we're pretty wasted. Richard decided to walk back to the hotel, I fell asleep on the toilet and Timberely tried to sneak off early saying she'd "had enough!"

I have the hangover from hell but it was a fun night and I think (OMG!) Timberely has some interesting pics!

Just the usual stuff, I don't mind the fun stuff but much of what he said when he was losing was pretty disrespectful. Just putting me down and being rude. Kept bitching about easy layouts and I couldn't run a hard rack etc, I did get him in the last rack though! He breaks and makes a ball and gets an easy layout. I said "there you go Earl thats an easy run out", he dogged the first ball lol :D (But I dogged the 7! )

Thanks for all the updates. John Moody always puts on a wonderful tourney. I used to frequent Action Billiards and BreakTime in Salisbury. John has a nack for creating a unique pool room. I wish Break Time would have stayed just a pool hall and not turned into a resturaunt/bar. The atmosphere was a lot better and pool was the main attraction. Now you have to deal with bands and @$$holes who can make playing pool no fun.

Good luck to all that are going to the U.S. Open. Wish I could return. Been twice. I saw Rodney Morris win the thing the year he won Mr. Moody's U.S. Open warm up in Salisbury and then saw Strickland win it several years later.

I have since moved away from Salisbury and am living in the Philly arean. Practicly down the street from Valley Forge. Couldn't make it to the convention this year, but next year I will be there.

Andy or Nick- Could you tell Kevin that Johnny Sturgis says hello. He was at my wedding just a little over a month ago. Thanks-
