Tiger shaft and tip

I see that Tiger products has now come out with a new shaft and of course it has less deflection and more english. Most likely it was designed to compete with the Predator shaft. And it comes with the new Sniper tip.

Has anybody tried this shaft? What is it like and how much does it cost?

I just had a Tiger Sniper Tip med hard put on my 314 and am really liking it a whole lot. Only problem with it is that I won't be missing as many shots anymore and my SL will go up.

i was wondering also if any one had an opinion on the tiger shaft. i love the sniper tip but i havent heard much about thier shaft. im not a fan of the predator shaft is it anything likethat?? anyone out there that owns one or used one id love to hear what you have to say about it.

I remember asking that when they had some of their shafts finished I would like to try a couple to run some test on them. Especially because of working with the Joss Northeast Tour, I'm sure their shaft would be put thru some very interesting tests.
Haven't heard any thing yet. But if they think that just lamination reduces deflection, they're in for a rude awakening.

It's a 4-pc pie laminate with a diamond shaped rod/laminate in the middle and the ferrule is a plugged-up short variety (the ferrule is glued to a wood tenon and tenon is glued to the bored out end of the shaft).
It's stiff but not light in the front like a 314.

Hi Cue Men,

I thought you would be interested in my draw and stop shot tests. Falcon standard shaft finished 3rd in the draw and stop shot test, the tiger is cool but it finished 2nd and the 314 still draws the cue ball and stops it the best.

The Tiger X shaft is only $199 compaired to the 314 at $325 so it's pick em
I like the 314 10 piece splice.

Photo attached of Tiger X construction Joseph is talking about.

Cheers,

Gremlin

You ever pay $325 for a predator shaft, I will have to knock some sense into you. Send me a PM and I will tell ya what you can get em for. $325, Jesus, who's been robbing you buddy.
Don P.

I can't believe some one is charging that kind of money. If your paying it than this forum hasn't educated you at all.

Tiger X-Shafts

I use a Tiger X-Shaft with an Everest Tip (also by Tiger). The X-Shafts play a bit more like a conventional shaft than a Predator 314 shaft.

There is less deflection than a conventional shaft and far more feedback (feel) than a 314. The X-Shaft does play FAR more consistent than a conventional shaft.

Those that do not like the 314's will no doubt love the X-Shafts.

You will also never meet anyone more customer service oriented than the folks at Tiger.

Well you are right about one thing, the people at Tiger are very nice. Here's some questions for you and Tiger if they would like to step up to the plate.
1- Do they play pool?
2-I know they are very experienced on leather but what about wood?
3-Why do they use ivorine III. It gets dirty very easy?
4-Is it really a quality product as far as less deflection or is it an option to confuse people so they waste their money?
As a cue maker I have to be able to answer these questions and more. My questions are not meant to be rude or disrespectful. They are real questions that will be asked.

DS, why would you call Mike a weeb? :D
Tiger shafts are a little stiffer than the regular maple shafts.
I agree with Mike about Ivorene ferrule getting dirty. It gets nasty.
They could have used Ivor-X or melamine but not the way it's plugged-up now.

Mike took the words right out of my mouth. But I have the feeling the questions themselves are providing the answers. We find many new products on the market these days, but not many people are providing intelligent and significant answers regarding all these "new technologies". I'm curious as to what the next discovery (probably the W shaft, we're running out of cool letters) will be like.
It's funny why knowledgeable cuemaker like Mike and others don't need to use flashy product titles in order to describe their work. Probably because their work speaks for itself.

~~knows Tiger very well, will stick to the leather part~~

Actually, there is the W shaft. It has been proven with the players. I put this shaft in the hands of people who play with Predators on purpose. All I asked them to do was shoot with it like they do their 314 shaft. The only problem is, it's only available on my cues. I have no interest in competing with Predator products. They have made a great contribution to our industry. The only reason I developed this shaft is because I want total control over the hit of my cues. Seeing I make less than 30 cues per year, I am no threat to them. I will continue to be one of their dealers as well as one of their repair shops. I wish Tiger products the best of luck. But until those questions get logical answers, I hope people hesitate on their purchase. Unless their looking for a new break shaft.

this is just my opinion..... I had a x shaft for about 2 days & promply returned it for my money back.. here is what I found wrong with it.
1. the shaft is too thick. its probably around 13.5 to 14 mm.
which is to thick for my taste.
2. it deflects more than my stock shaft. I shot the same shot over &
over for at least 2 hours with the x shaft & with my stock shaft. and
was suprised that the x shaft deflected more. I always belived that
a stiff shaft deflected less than a less stiff shaft. but now I am sure
that a stiff shaft deflects more.

once again this is just my opinion. I spoke to one of the repesentitives for
Tiger, & he said that they were going to change the shaft diameter. that
should change the stiffness of the shaft & therefore reduce deflection.
