I recieved 2 tiger soft tips yesterday and there is no dome or marked side however there is a sort of sticky side on each one of the tips but both sides are flat, what I'm wandering is which side to ferrule or does it matter. These tips are huge you could almost make 2 out of each one if you like them the size of a standard elkmaster. It looks like they might need to be installed with sharp blade like there cousin the sniper tip, please pass on any experience. Leonard

The embossed side goes on the ferrule. It should have an "S" on it. Also, be careful cutting them to size AND when shaping them. Be sure to wet them a little. I use a q-tip dipped in water that I spin on right before I cut them them.

can't see no s

I have looked real close and there is no marks just light gray stacked leather with a shiny side and a dull side so I guess shiny side would be what you are calling embossed? does that sound right? Thanks Leonard

I believe what Ryan was referring to as the embossed side is the side that would/should have an "S" (Soft) on it. You are correct though. The shiny side is the side that would be adhered to the ferrule, AFTER scuffing it on sand paper.

FWIW...Both sides of the "Dynomite" tip by Tiger Products, are shiny, but one side has the "D" embossed on it.

I ruined several before I got the hang of it. If it delaminates, it is not the tip's fault.:p

It looks like this question was well handled already.

Just a note: There should be an embossed "S" on one side of that tip (that'd be your glue side). That tip is so soft though, sometimes they won't hold the embossing.

Take a look at the Tiger - Hard. That embossing is strong!

I just put a sniper on My playing cue yesterday to try, and had no problems. I wetted It and It cut so clean with the razor that It peeled of in one strand. I did use a piece of brass between the tip and live center a live center to help hold It together, but worked like a charm. First time I've tried one of them on one of My personal cues, because I usually use a moori quick, but I was amazed at how well the sniper held It's shape after playing for 5 hours or so with It last night. Seems like a good tip, just taking some time to get the speed change & difference in feel down, altough I was still able to win My match against an equal oponet with It. Something I did'nt really expect playing on a new tip and all for the first time.:)

I went out to the pool room and shot for a couple hours mostly drills and some eightball and nineball and if this the right tip it sure seems harder than my old elkmasters. I am using it on a OB 1 13 mm shaft that I have been playing with for about six months with the medium talisman that comes on them and I wish I would have left it on for a while longer. I will shoot league 3 times next week with it to see if it grows on me or I'll cut it off and try a molavia I been holding. Leonard
