Tiger X Shaft

Anyone tried this shaft? I was talking to my ACS teammate who is a pool gizmo dealer and figured he could pick a blank up for me relatively cheap and then I could have it customed to my cue. Any thoughts on that?

The last post I saw about it were not promising as far as it being a low deflection shaft. Just another style of lamination. Haven't seen or heard any thing new about it until this post. If the price was a little more reasonable I might try a couple and play around with it a bit but not for what they are charging for a new product virtually unknown except for it being a Tiger product

Seeing as there is not to much info on these. I'll call Tony tomorrow and see if he'll let me experiment with a couple.

imo, mass-produced, aftermarket shafts rarely compare favorably to what a good custom cuemaker can do for you.

I play with Predator shafts, not because I think they are better quality in terms of hit or wood selection but because I'm used to their deflection. When I have the money to experiment with various cuemaker's tapers, and the time to make the adjustment in terms of squirt I'd drop the Pred in a heartbeat.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that I consider the Tiger X-shaft completely pointless, especially considering the cost. Like Mr. Webb said, I see nothing concrete to support their low-deflection claim, and dropping 2 bills for a 4-piece laminated shaft is not something I would do.

Go with the shaft Mike makes.
When I got my first Webb a couple of years ago I was coming from a McDermott with a Predator. Mike being the gracious gentleman he is let me try it with a Predator and with one of his own shafts. Now I can't explain why, but I just liked playing with the shaft Mike made better than any other. Mike could probably explain why, but a cuemaker's got to have his secrets. ;)

One of my Webb's

My primary playing cue, also a Webb.

Those are some nice cues. Nice work Mike. Tasteful and classy.

Thanks,
