Some of my cues are hard to unscrew and sometimes it's very hard to unscrew the joint protectors from the button end. Someone told me to use beeswax on the pins. Good or bad idea? Any recommendations if it's a bad idea.
First question, what type of joint? If it's a big pin, like 3/8x10 or 3/8x11 into wood, wax is just a lubricant, and will not 'fix' the issue. Most times, the wood has swelled slightly and will cause it to fit really tight. Running a tap thru is usually all it takes.
If it's a steel pin with brass insert, like a 5/16x18 or 14, Just take a cotton swab with alcohol on it and clean the threads, and it will usually work.
HTHs,
