I had a visitor, {The Wife} for 2 weeks and did not touch a cue stick for the entire time. I was wondering how this would affect my game. If anyone is considering taking time off as a way to improve their game of maybe get out of a slump let me say this. Don't do it. At least it didn't work for me. My first time back was very ugly. Sorry, no video. If there was it would have to go to the funny pics thread. It took at least a couple hours to begin to feel like I knew what i was doing and who knows how long to get back to where i was.

I think it has a lot to do with what level shooter you are. I used to hear people all the time say, "I was playing pretty bad. i took a week off and i came back and shot better than ever" or when you're playing bad they say "take a few days off and come back", well i would say that works well for a low to mid level shooter. When you are at a very high level of play, you need to practice all the time or you will lose something, whether it be speed or just seeing the balls right. When I've talked to some top players and asked them how many days off do they notice a difference in their play and they say "one or two days off and i can tell"

This might not be true for everybody though and i might be wrong, it's just what I've observed over the years.

i have been to iraq twice and each time a year off of playing. Its torture! It always takes me around two months to even feel close to the way I played before I left. I still have improved alot over the last five years despite the two deployments.
