Time to get a serious cue...

I'm deciding between the McDermott HR Pearl/Black and the Viking F96. I've played with a KC cue a while ago that had a joint similar to the Viking #5, and I loved the way it felt. With my current graphite cue, it too looks similar to the #5 but it feels ... eh. I like the hit to be solid.

What are your opinions on the two?

i havent played with either, but i think u can chose the joint type on the fiking. each type has a different hit. if u want a soft hit, id go for a wood-wood connection, but there are other options for each type of hit u like, soft, medium, hard. go check there website out for more info on the influence of the joint on the hit. Mcdermots normally hit pritty stiff.

I'm sure they're both fine cues, but you can't go wrong with a Mcdermott. Just my opinion.
