Time to share... This week's shot will be the long straight in...

try aiming the way you always do and exaggerate follow thru and elbow drop. probably just mental but its a trick that works for me

I always used to use the "Randy Method" for aiming whit mixed results. I would always feel pretty stupid when I missed a straight in shot

The past month or so I have been learning Pro 1 and I have to say it works wonderfully for straight in's. My percentages have gone way up.

I think it is a combination of a better psr, aiming better and just all around better confidence.

Are you still active with the Rough Riders? I used to play ALOT, but backed off when they went to all the Links 2003 v1.05 hoopla,,,,,,became to unrealistic for my liking.

No, not in many years, stopped somewhere after links 2001. (The turbo busa thing was an inside joke btw, not sure how far back you went) :)

>obligatory geno comment

Seriously though, I love the long straight in shot... I'm cross eye dominant (left eye dominance but right handed shooter so my head is always slightly shifted when I set up) so the shot really forces me to figure out exactly how to position my head so that when I fire, it goes as straight as I pictured it. I've tried the compensating thing (I was always aiming slightly to the right) and it's been hit and miss (as you'd expect from such a way of playing).

On long straight shots I aim thru the ball at a point in the pocket.
Once I have that point fixed then I shoot and the ball just gets in the way of the cue ball aimed at that point and gos in.In fact this is how I shoot all long shots. If its not straight I aim at a point on the rail.
Does this make sense the way I described it?

This makes a lot of sense. I do this on jump shot, somehow makes aiming easier

Thats how I do it too for straight shots. If its a distance shot I also line up the edges of the cue ball with the object ball edges, seems to get me straighter.
