Ting Sound in my New Predator Shaft

I just received a new Radial 314 Shaft. I have never owned a predator shaft before and it is making a Ting sound when english is applied. If I hit it center no ting, english there's a ting. I did change the tip before I shot with it to a Talisman Pro Medium.

What I would like to know is if anybody else has had this problem and if so is it a Ferrule problem or the tip?

That is most likely the sound that results from the hollowness of the Predator shaft near the tip end. Some of the shaft material is bored out towards the tip; I believe the reasoning for this was to reduce tip end mass resulting in lower deflection. I know the sound you are speaking of, since I use a 314...don't worry, it's normal.

As for why the sound only happens when you apply english, couldn't really provide you with a reason or justification. But I can tell you that mine also only makes that sound off the center of the cue ball (meaning top, bottom, left, or right...but especially on bottom), and my buddy who uses 314 also is the same. Granted, that's only two of us, but I am confident that a lot of 314 users will mention similarities. Hope that helps.

Put it together very slowly & see if there is a tiny space on the outside edges, as the center is just beginning to touch. You may need to have the shaft refaced in a lathe...JER

Thanks to all who took the time to post. I'm going to change the tip and se if it was that. I'm also going to check on the above post re: the refacing.

Thanks,

FWIW there has been many problems with Talisman tips; I've thrown out 3 of them after every one delaminated on me to some extent. Many people have tried them and moved on, and NO, these are not all results of bad installs.

There are many diehard fans of this tip, and if it's working for them that's great. I will never use one again.
