Tip maintenance questions

I get to try out new tips every couple months by Last4Evering the hell out of the tip to a dime shape before each play. Time well spent.

Case #x. Porper mushroom shaver
Guys in the ferrule replacement business love these!

Great tool but if you're not meticulous or at least careful you can have a nice chamfered ferrule end afterward! I got one secondhand without instructions and pre interenet and let me tell you... it's easy to skim the ferrule even if you think you're being careful.

This works for me in 90 seconds or less.
I always shape with a lot of chalk pushing the chalk into the tip as I work it.
I routinely wet the side with saliva to harden, darken and burnish. No mushroom ever.

1- I smother my tip with chalk
2- I tap it with a tip pick like a woodpecker.
3- smother it again with chalk.
4- put ultimate tip tool between my feet and secure it from moving or twisting.
5- turn my cue upside down and put the tip in the dime size shaper.
6- spin the butt around like I’m trying
to start a fire for shaping.
7- turn cue around , chalk again and check how even it looks. If it’s off any I clean it up by hand.
8- I wet and burnish the side with a rack or a piece of leather, depends on my mood.
9- chalk again usually lightly.
90 seconds or less , done.
I use a medium layered tip and master chalk.
I never have a problem where the chalk flakes off or doesn’t grab and the shape lasts.
Last time I miscued was I can’t remember.
I have no problem with extreme English in any game and I play a lot of 3 cushion.
Always wet the side, stroke straight, don’t twist or screwdriver.
In about 3 months I give it a once over.
