Tip questions AGAIN...

1. When breaking in a tip, isn't it just playing with it to make it hard, and in case of this, why not just use a harder tip? It does not make sense to use a soft tip, removing a lot of it and then breaking it in to make it hard.

I used to use a moori medium, and it really took too long time to be ready for playing. Then I switched to the Tiger Sniper, and it was only a few days before it was nice and great to play with. Just use a harder tip, also it does not make it nessecary to remove a lot of the soft tip when applying it. I remove a bit until it get's to a height I like, that is it.

2. I am thinking about trying the Kamui Black medium or hard, how would these two be rated compared to the tiger sniper???

Oh boy... I just switched from my Everest to the Sniper. I don't know if the thing is still breaking in, or if the tip really is that soft... The Everest was so much more comfortable. And I'll tell you, the Kamui M I have on my USS has never mushroomed and rarely if not never loses shape.

I would imagine, in my experience, that the Kamui Black M/H are both harder than the Sniper.

The Sniper is pretty much the softest hitting of the laminated tips. The Kamui black in M or H will seem like concrete in comparison. If you must try a black then go with the SS....its still harder hitting than the Sniper. If you like how the Sniper feels...then why change? You will not get better performance from any tip.

I think this falls to each individual. I've yet to see a tip that feels good out of the box. There is adjustment time no matter what you put on. As for shaving it down, I don't. I only take off what needs to be taken off to shape it then I never touch it again other than to rough it up if it gets too smooth.

Personally, I think a players habits get into a tip, and a shaft for that matter. A tip will dent and shape around the way you hit the ball, why on earth would you want to change that?
