Tip Replacement in office at desk

I've had so many shitty tips installed at local pool halls by people who could care less about quality. The main problem is the use of defective tips. I've never seen a pool hall employee install a tip and then redo the process because of a defect. With good layered tips there is less of a problem but tweeten tips, although inexpensive, vary greatly in quality.

I never clean my shafts because they have acquired a sheen built up over a long period of playing that just feels right.

I'm not talking about some dufus at the pool hall. I'm referring to a qualified professional. Someone who knows what they are doing.
Dirt and grime, by-the-way, does not have a sheen to it.

So I'm still practicing

Just thought I'd give everyone an update.

Since my last two attempts, I've replaced the tips on two of the work house cues (very very ugly attempts.)

After getting my new Deano, I wasn't a fan of the layered tip, so I replaced it with a triangle.

This time around I combined some of the advice above:
- Most of the trimming was done with a sharp blade
- Only used the cheap pencil sharpening tool to clean up whittling chunks for optimal roundness, made sure it did not touch ferrule
- Attacked it with various grits, finally getting my hands on some 1500 grit
- Burnished with a white business card, then a brown paper bag.
