I have a Jericho j/b cue that I have trouble jumping with. A repairman freind of mine said it is the tip? When I bought the cue i was told that there is a special tip on the cue that cannot be replaced without sending the stick into Jericho. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Thanks
Mike

.......Yes

The phenolic tip that Jericho uses is tennoned into the ferrule to reduce the phenolic popping off of that thermo plastic type (??) ferrule he uses. I'm sure any cue repairman that has a phenolic rod can make the tip just the same with the tennon and all. That is if you want another phenolic.

The phenolic tip on your cue should actually make it easier to jump IMO. Phenolic is one of the hardest tip materials and gets the tip off of the cue ball quickly, making it easier to jump with. What you should be focusing on is your technique and not the equipment. I believe there have been discussions on the forum regarding proper jumping technique. Are you using a dart stroke or normal stroke?

I wouldn't mess with it. It works as advertised as is. As previously stated in this link, it has a tenon and also a patent on that. If it doesn't work for you I would try a different cue before I would change the tip. I'm sure Jerry (Jerico) has it set up correctly. And if you decide to sell it, it now becomes a bastard child if you mess with the tip.

Did you buy the cue new? If not....its possible the tip was changed by a previous owner. You may not have the phenolic Jerry uses.

I bought the cue new, but, it does not have a phenolic tip, it has a layered tip. The salesman I was talking to told me the tip extends into the ferrule and it could not be changed without sending it back to Jericho.

I've used several jump cues, trying them from other guys, and I don't have a problem getting airborn, but I do have problems getting this cue to work? I'm going to keep trying, I love the way the cue breaks, maybe I will come around.

Thanks,
Mike
