Tip rising problem

Lately my stroke has gotten out of whack. Instead of my tip ending low and near the table surface it's been coming up. The problem is really bad when shooting off the rail. Could it be elbow dropping? Man, it's buggin the hell out of me. Any tips would be awesome, thanks.

Without watching you shoot, my first guess would be an elbow drop. When you drop your elbow, the butt of the cue goes down, causing the other end of the cue to move up like a see-saw.

Yes, tip rising is usually the effect of dropping the elbow.

It's only a bad thing if it causes you to not accurately hit where you are aiming on the CB. Generally a product of poor timing. There are two main remedies, both of which requires table time and lots of practice.

1. Work on your timing.
2. Stop dropping your elbow.

I agree with the elbow drop.

Another cause is a very tight grip during the stroke.

Thanks to all who chimed in. Looks like i've got some table time in front of me. Oh darn, looks like i gotta head to the 'hall today.

Video analysis of your stroke would be very enlightening to you. It's always better when the student can "see" themselves making the error on tv. Where are you located? Maybe we can steer you to someone who can help.
