Probably been asked before but:For an average player(lets say a C rated) is there a significant difference between how they will play with a 13mm tip which seems pretty standard vs a 12.75-12.50mm tip size in terms of hurting their game? Thanks,M.Selers

dif in rank doesnt mean diferent tip...some play with small tips because thats what they are comfertable with and others play with bigger tips bc thats what they are comfertable with. it all depends on what you like. if your playing snooker they tend to use smaller tips bc of smaller balls.

alot of it can depend on your stroke too....like if you got a bad stroke a small tip would fit you better cause you can do more with the cue ball...if you got a good stroke i feel the 13 mm tip is the better way to go cause you can control your stroke a little better that way...

Dont you mean the opposite?

I mean if you have a bad stroke then a smaller tip diameter would put english on the cue ball that you wouldnt want since if the stroke is bad youll go further off center. Now if the tip diameter was larger than even if yur stroke wasnt that accurate you could get away with it.

I agree in part with what you said, a smaller tip allows more action on a cue ball but I think that this is no substitute for a good stroke.

I play UK 8ball and use a tip size of under 8mm and have found that due to using this tip size my cueing needs to be more accurate because if I do not concentrate on my cueing I tend to impart more unintentional side than I did when I used a 10mm tip.

The most important thing, I think, is to ensure your fundamentals are good before trying to find the right cue (ine which feels right to you).

A larger tip will allow you to hit center ball more easily. A smaller tip allows more english but as mentioned can be harder to control. It depends on where your game is as to which is better for you. Definitely smaller balls will allow a smaller tip diameter. When I play snooker with a 13mm tip, it's much harder to get reverse english.
