tip size vs table size? 314vz2?

Some time ago, I convinced myself that 13mm was for 9ft tables and smaller was for bar tables - with the logic that the 13mm would produce less unintentional english on the longer, tougher shots you face on the big table, and that the smaller tip diameter would give more room for english on heavy cueballs on bar tables.

Is this line of thinking correct? Im considering a Z2 (11.75mm) as my main play shaft. I play a mix of big and small tables. Ive had some success with the 314-2, but it feels a bit big to me.

Tried the search, but you can't search for terms like 314 or z2...
 
From my experience, I would think the reverse of what you said. A bigger tip would put more mass behind the big cue ball and thus allowing to be easier to push around on the barbox. A smaller tip on the other hand would be better on a bigger table since it has less endmass and in turn causes less deflection which then leads to more accurate shot making. I play with both polar ends of the tip spectrum, a 13mm and an 11mm interchangibly but I prefer the 11mm on any table.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Forget about what is *logic*.

Just choose what is comfortable for you-and STAY playing with it. To use different shafts from time to time is not a good deal for you-you ll confuse yourself. No matter if it s 314-2, z², non-laminated shaft or whatever. Choose one and play with it.
 
I wish the dickweed at our local predator dealer/ "Testing Center" would actually let us chalk some cues so I could hit some shots and make an informed decision - and then go buy off the internet for 1/2 of retail :)
 
If you ask to choose between z² and 314² i would recommend the 314² (my subjective advice).
In my eyes easier to handle than the z². But how i said- it s subjective. I played with almost each *LD* shaft which is available- and z² was for me something i would never choose-

No. Tip size has nothing to do with how much spin you can get. A smaller tip will produce less squirt and allow you to see more clearly exactly where you hit the CB. That's all.
