Tip Tool Suggestion

Any suggestions on a good tip tool? I'm leaning towards the Ultimate Tip tool. Also, do you have a suggestion on how to dress a phenolic tip? I have the hardest time keeping chalk on the phenolic? Does anyone have any cool or unusual tip tools they they would like to share pics of? Thanks

I like the ultimate tip tool myself, and once the scuffer wears out you can purchase new inserts for them. I've had mine for probably 18 years or so.

Ultimate Tip Tool is great, just don't use the mushroom removers on both side like there intended(sliding up against the shaft/ferrule) . It'll shred your ferrule up.

Well heck, that is/was the reason I was leaning towards it.

Found that out the hard way. :(

The grooves are supposed to make sure the sides don't touch the ferrule, too.

You could look into one of those 99 cent tip shavers I saw someone sell in the Wanted/For Sale section.

Well I think if you position the mushroom shaver of the Ultimate Tip Tool above the ferrule you'll be fine and won't mess up the ferrule.

I found an old thread on the Cue Shark Pup. It was reviewed very well and there is no abrasives to ever replace. The side shaper looks like it will work well. I think I'm going to go with it.

I did end up buying that shaver and used it after I put on a new tip and it works really good. Just wish I wouldve known about it before I messed up my ferrule with the ultimate tip tool. I use the shapers and tapper on it though still.

I tried to be careful with it and tried it upside even but, all the crap falls between the slot and the ferrule and tears it up.

Those shavers are cheap and work great. You're correct about the tip tool. I use it from the top like a finger nail file. Tip Tool is still a great tool to have with the tip pik.
