Tips for carbon fiber shafts

I shoot with a McDermott. I just got a new tip put on and found a little wobble in the shaft which I hadn't noticed before. I was looking at the Defy and it says to only have the tip replaced by a pro or sent back to McDermott. Why is this?
I use ultraskin's and they are not shown as an option on the Defy,
I do cue repair and finish carbon fiber shafts and I have never had a wobble. Also McDermott puts a clear coat on them and maybe there’s a high spot. Some people have the clear remov ed.

I've re-tipped my Defy several times with no issues. I currently have a Ultraskin Hard tip on it. You just have to be very careful with the finish on the defy so I put a wrap of painters tape around the butt and shaft where it contacts the lathe chucks.

Despite popular belief. All c/f shafts are not straight. Defects are sold every day. Even on our own machinery section, defects were being offered in blank form.
They are not all drilled and tapped straight either.

Use whatever tip you like, but be mindful that some brands have a tip pad between the ferrule and tip, removing the tip pad often voids the warranty. I must have done just about every combination of tip/carbon fibre shaft out there, tip choice is an individual thing, no right or wrong answer.
