Tips to install rubber bumper in cue?

Somehow the rubber bumper in my Pechauer break cue popped out. Trying to reinstall it is like trying to reinsert a cork in a wine bottle. Is there a trick to this? Should I lightly coat it with liquid dish soap or some type or lubricant?

I think some lube would help. Perhaps you should ask this in the ask the cuemaker area.

First, fix why it popped out.

Then get the biggest bumper you can find. My predator butt is cracked from hitting the floor too many times.

Might try getting it cold so rubber shrinks a tad. I can see this thread going sideways shortly. ;)

Spit.

Hair spray is great if you can work fast enough. Unlike dish soap, it starts out slick but offers mild adhesion when dry.

I did post in "ask the cuemaker" and also emailed Pechauer. No response from either
Throw it in the freezer overnight. When you go to reinstall it, put a couple of dabs of nail polish or something tacky inside the hole and slide the bumper in. When it warms back up, it should be a good fit in there again

Since it popped out in the first place, it's a little loose. Take some double coated tape, and put it around the contact piece, or tenon of the bumper. Wet the tenon with solvent. Naptha or lighter fluid works good. Work that bumper into the buttplate, it'll go in easy if it came out in the first place. After the tape has cured, your bumper will be in for good, though with a bit of effort, you can take it out.

The double coated tape is the same thing that is used to put grips on a golf club.

All the best,
WW

Go to a car parts store...in the soaps and waxes department, look for a tire dressing called "armorall"...it contains silicone as well as protects rubber from rot. Use it wet, should be enough lube...
