Tip's...What do you use and why?

I use to use WB tips. At the time they were the best tip bar none. Somehow, several years ago, they changed their mixture. Now either tip they offer are hard so I don't use them any more.

Now I use a Schon tip, they come with a fibre/plastic back pad and appx med hard. I was told by a guy at Seyberts they are a repressed WB but I doubt that at this point. What ever they are, there consistant and they hold chalk well and I've only had a problem with one. I blew a chunk out so it had to be replaced.

I think the claims on any tip, more spin etc is WAY over rated. Maybe they are to you but only because you have more confidence, not the tip properties. If the tip holds chalk well and you can hit the edge of the c/b any tip works well. The only difference is feedback and whether you like a soft or more firm feel. Another factor is the ability to hold it's shape, some do well and others don't. Schon does well in this area, so does Triangle.

I'm not a fan of layered tips although a Morri is a pretty good tip. For me Talsman tips mushroomed big time and a couple came apart, plus they don't hold chalk as well. What ever you do don't buy into hype. No tip spins the ball better, draws more etc. Thats you and your cueing accuracy.

I also still use Le Pros. I tried out Moori and didnt like them. Triangle I think is also good but for some reason I just keep ending up with Le Pro.

Dennis Searing showed me something in his shop about Le Pro though. He took this brand new box of Le Pros and showed me one by one how most of them were bad. According to Dennis, Le Pro is a good tip but you might be lucky to find 2 or 3 in an entire box that are worth putting on a cue.

I am what you might call Old School. I have used LePro tips since the 70's.
Am I missing out? are there better Tip's ? What do you use and why?:)

I'm old, but not necessarily "old skool", I only started getting serious about pool 5 years ago (maybe 6 now).

I've had the most success with Moori Meds or Quicks, though I like Stratos extra-hard quite a bit. Better??? I don't know, but layered tips are pretty consistent.

Just switched to the Tiger Dynamite, it's a great feeling hard tip. Normally hard tips are very brick-like, where you don't get any feel, but these give you a good connection with the ball.

Before that I was using Moori Mediums, the Quick was good but kind of dead, like described above.

The Talisman med I just put on feels ok. Alot different than the LePro. Maybe a tad harder, but real different feedback. Not clicky hard like the water buffalo tips, but firm. Need a few more hours to see if it stays....

I don't have much experience with different brands of tips but....

I have a Talisman Pro Soft on one shaft and a Moori S on my second shaft. I really like them both because they hold chalk well and seem to hold shape fairly well. I LIGHTLY shape with a Willards about every week, but I break with these shafts. I can't tell the difference between the two in terms of playability.

I changed from the standard Schon tips that were on the shafts because they were way too hard and wouldn't hold chalk.

I may try Taliman or Moori mediums in the future if anything.

I use Moori meduims and am very happy with them. Hold chalk well, can put a lot of action on the CB when required, and seldom miscue.

I use Triangles. I can do everything I need to do with a cue ball and they're low maintainance. You can't beat the price either.

OK afetr another hour on the Talisman med, I'm liking it much more. Maybe it needed to get broken in....another 15 or 20 years and I'll be world champ!:D
