I knows it. This place is like a military base. New recruits all the time. :smile:
the only good tip I know is not to piss in the wind. but if you mean a leather tip for a specific game, than you have bigger problems.:thumbup: I would say get a stroke first, but as in pool not as in a medical emergency. if you meant as advice, I would say play, alot, than practice some drills, and play alot more.
That's actually a very good question, but there is, in my opinion, no easy answer.
Personally, I always liked a medium tip for all the pool games I played, but anymore I tend to prefer the soft tip for playing One Pocket. :smile:

Kamui tips are the worst. I hate them. For the lower end on the market you can't beat pooldawg's milk duds. I may give tom hays ultra skin another try. I tried one once and doesn't like it and then test hit another cue that had them and did.
On the higher end G2 is best w/o competition.

That's the thing... Since every cue and shaft play a little different what works for you on one won't always work on another... That's why I tell everyone if they don't like ours to try the G2 or the Zan.....
I've tried a bunch.
Kamui glazes too quick to me. I've tried several Black's and Brown's. It's worth mentioning that I did have one Kamui Brown medium that was the nuts, and is still on my backup bar-beater cue. I was never able to replicate how that tip plays though and I tried several times. Quality control issue?
Ultraskin plays great right after the install, but when it gets down about halfway it starts glazing like the Kamui.
I tried the Ki-Tech when they first came out but they were a b*tch to install. The medium played ok to me, nothing special. Didn't like the soft at all. I may try them again in the future now that they're making the medium-soft.
Everest tip played ok.
Wizard soft felt like cardboard to me.
Tiger Onyx played like garbage to me. Never had so many miscues.
Pooldawg's Milk Duds play great if you like a harder tip. A little too hard for me.
Right now I've got an Ultraskin Medium on my playing cue. I'm waiting until after a tournament next week then I'll rip it off and try one of the Zan tips that Oscar Dominguez gave me. I played with his cue with a Zan medium and it played real good, so I'll give that a shot.
As far as break tips go, the Outsville Hammerhead is the best one I've tried, but I never tried the Taom tips that everyone is raving about.

I was going to try yours but I got a sample pack and don't know where the medium ever ended up.

Let's not forget about the usable life span of the tip .. I think this is a big factor.
If you have to rough up your tip, or even worse poke it with a pic to get it to hold chalk, it will have a short life span.
What I like about single layer, and especially true of the Ki-Tech, is the durability of the tip. I never have to do any thing to the Ki-Tech except chalk it up before each shot. Honestly.

I have played 4 or 5 times a week now for about - I have a bad memory when it comes to time - but it must be about a year now.
The tip is not even half worn and hits the same today as when it was installed. This may be the best attribute in a tip to achieve consistency, at lest for that one tip.

Then i try medium hard. The same result.
Lastly i try medium kitech. I got the same f%&$#$g result
Every tip was installed without lathe, so mo overheat stuff here. And before anyone attack me i install tips over 20 y

Nice looking install. I don't want to say the obvious but, give the soft a try .. I think Renfro has a Med-Soft version these days as well.
The Med-Soft were not available when I got the Med's, I guess I should try one out!

I play with hard tips. But these tips sounds like phenolic. I changed them not for playability, i changed them because of bad sound :sorry:
