Tips

I know that this question has probably been asked before so please excuse me if it has. I used to use the Everest tip but the cost here in Costa Rica has become prohibitive so I have switched to the cheaper solid leather tips. I have both the WB Water Buffalo and the Triangle. Depending on which hardness chart you look at, they seem to vary somewhat in hardness values. Does anyone here have any experience with either of these tips that can tell me which one holds it's shape longer? Thank you in advance.

I like the Triangles better. In my opinion, they are about the best tips you can use for the money. I think the water buffalo tips get too hard and the Triangles play about the same for the life of the tip.

Thanks for your reply - my one and only. I have some Triangles here at the house and I think I'll put one on my main shooter and see how it works. Thanks again for your reply.

You need to qualify them first, and them do some pre-process. Some people will do a float/sink test for the densest tips, and do some kind of press.

I bite them and choose the hardest one, and I press them. Fantastic tips, but there is a weeding process.

I have to second Cornerman's comments. I do the float test too. I have a Triangle on a Cuetec R360 and it has outlasted any Kamui I have installed. By that, I mean the Kamui was harder than Chinese arithmetic and would glaze over if you looked at it wrong. Triangle stayed the same over its lifespan.
