Titlist (i.e. full-splice) conversions and C ring

From time to time I'll see a Titlist conversion which has a ring between the handle and forearm. I can only assume that this means that they had to have cut the original one-piece cue at that point, so that the ring could be added.

Is that a correct assumption? And, if so, why would you want to do it (apart from any aesthetic considerations)?

to lengthen the cue if need be, alot of the time these cues would be to skinny to use without extending the but sleeve.

A lot of titlists have to be cut because of several reasons. It could be warped, it could be too short once you shift the points forward, makes it easier to even out the points, and it could make it easier for weighting/balancing, etc.

However, just because there is a ring doesn't necessarily mean it was cut. The ring itself could be a "split" ring in which you cut a groove and fit a ring into the grove in two pieces or something for aesthetic reasons. The handle area could also be turned down leaving a long tennon behind the forearm that a handle could be sleeved or threaded onto keeping the original one piece wood running through the handle. All of these are just options though and each titlist is different.

Yes, we had to do this on the Titlist I had converted a couple of years ago. That is an expediency that I understand.

Ahh... split ring. Ok, I didn't know this was ever done. Also, the sleeved handle is something I didn't know anyone ever did.
