To Andy Segal: thanks for the advice

I recently changed my break per Andy Segal's advicefrom a previous thread.
I started slowly and gradually increased my break speed until I could control it. Now I am CRUSHING the ball with little or no cue ball movement after initial impact. Two and three balls were dropping every break and the cue ball just sat there. Suddenly ****BICKITY BAM**** 7 BALLS drop including the 9. My practice buddy couldn't believe it, and neither could I. Anyway, my break really kicks butt now. Thanks Andy.

I also want to thank Mr. Segal for posting his advice about the break shot and other areas of the game. I have improved my break much more since his posting.

I think it's very nice of him to freely give advice like that. Once again, thank you Mr. Segal.

Thanks for the kind words. I am happy to help. The better everyone else gets, the better it is for the game. Besides, what else am I to do while I'm at work???

Okay, I decided not to be lazy and did a search and found it. Even printed it out. And it does make sense and sound logical. And I recall reading where other pros say the exact same thing. Maybe now it will sink in and I will listen and practice this more.

After my fiasco in breaking last week I have been working on my break trying to hit the CB in the center and the one ball straight on. That seems to be the concensus of advice given by the pros. Not as easy as it sounds. A little off on my stroke and I put english on the CB, or if I hit center ball on the CB I may miss the spot on the one ball I am aiming at. But I do find with less power I achieve success more often.

Why have the pros just about given up breaking from the center? Does the side break really provide that much better results?

Any chance of you coming down to Florida to play in the Florida Pro Tour this year? I hear that they will have a really big event at the end of the season.
But it might only be open to those who have played at least once during the tour.

DeadStroke: I mainly play in my basement since I'm usually busy tearing up my cloth with all of those masse shots that I need to practice. When I do get out, I go down to a sports bar called Instant Replay. My wife plays in the APA on two teams from that place and I am friends with the owner. There are 12 bar tables, an eating area, and a pro shop. All of the major APA tournaments for long island are there. It is in Huntington on Jericho Turnpike near rt. 110. Go to my website (www.andysegal.com) and send me an email. If I'm around when you come to town, maybe we can meet up there.

Jake: Each table has a sweet spot. Breaking from the side give you a better chance to make the corner ball (the one on the same side as where you break from). However, if that doesn't go, most people adjust to the other side, then closer to the center. The corner break seems to have the most success so that is why everyone is using it. Regarding the Florida Tour, I'm not sure if you were speaking to me when you asked, but I don't play 9-ball competitively anymore. I am exclusively doing trick shots.

thanks

I'm also free to meet for a drink at the Instant Replay next weekend.I'll be there for the APA singles regionals.I saw you on television and I think you're a bit of a cutie.
Don't be shy,cum out to play.

Sorry, can't help you with your back. My wife might not like it. I may show up at some point during the singles since my wife will be in the tournament.

Andy

Whatever happened to i'll scratch your back if you scratch my back?
Anyway i'll see you there.
Maybe while your WIFE is playing a match we could take a wander outside.
I'm the very delicate looking guy that is probably sitting crossed legged at the bar.
