Just Monday morning quarterbacking here but......
Deep down I DON'T think the IPT was started as a scam or a short term idea, because the money it is/was trying to attract is bigger than whatever the players could ever, ever put in.
In saying that, I know we, as a collective group of players have put money on the wire gambling our whole lives at one time or another and have been stiffed or made settlements each way. (Billiard players are exempt from this statement because they wouldn't bet water is wet)
So I think it's time to do some soul-searching and ask yourselves....
Q-#(1) Do I believe they were in it for the short term?
A-If you think they were, then the best thing is to tell them to take your name off the players list and send what you have coming if/when they ever get it. Be done with it and go on with your life.
Q-#(2) Do I believe they were in it for the long haul and do I want to take a chance and see it become a reality?
A-If you believe they were in it for the long term and in light of the recent problems, what would you be willing to do? Do you take a gamble to see if it keeps going and turns into a sucessful tour?
Personally....I would tell them (privately) if there are problems with the funding and they need help to keep it going awhile longer to see if it can support itself........put my money on the wire.......just send me a g-note or two as a token towards what is owed so I can cover expenses for Chicago and I'll take a shot with you and we'll see what happens.
If anyone doughts any of this....myself, along with other players would buy their spot and take a shot...if...the IPT had to do something like this to keep going. We've gambled on worse before and gambled on worse people.
I guess the bottom line is....regardless of who's running it....do the people involved want to help a tour succeed now?....or wait for the next time?
It's up to the players at this point.
