To play or not to play.........

All those REALLY leary of the "rusty" fellow, and wanna rob the "paid my way thru college" guy are killing me. Play 'em both; haven't you ever lost? I mean, do you need a LOCK to play? WOW!!! If SVB is in a bar and wants to play.....PLAY. If it costs you some, SO WHAT?! I'm surprised with some of these answers...."uh, I don't gamble rusty guy", or you should feel 'em out for a few games. REALLY?!!! Am I reading a thread on AZB?

I never thought about, how good the other player, might play. I know how, I play, and in most cases, that's usually all that mattered.

My son, that went to college, often dominated, his friends at school. I consider him a low c-player at best.

The only way, I found out if I could beat somebody, was playing them and finding out.

thank you Tom for restoring my faith in at least some players on this board.

I guess I don't view playing as most on here do. I doubt that I'd have a chance winning money from you, but I'd play. It's an outlet for me, competitively....don't chase money; just want to play. I know how much I'm willing to spend for my entertainment, or outlet, and will stop if I get there. Sure, winning allows me up the billiards budget, but I don't only want to play people I can easily beat either.....

In 50 years of hanging around pool halls & playing pool I have heard the "I put myself through college" story I don't know how many times and none of them played better than 6 speed. So they can play some

This pretty much sums it up for me too. I never met a guy that says this line that is better than a C player.

Very well put. I would play anybody for $50 set. Player B maybe can play some, maybe not better than me. If I lose then I can always quit. It's not like I lose my house or car.

So.........long story short, I play em both. I don't gamble much any more, so the Player C guy would probably get me into a $20 set or just play by the game, maybe for $5 or $10. !5 or 20 years ago I was chasing the gamblin bug pretty good, I would look for games more back then. I was just curious as to how other guys would react to each scenario.
Thanks for the responses, keep strokin guys and gals.
