To Restore or Not to Restore?

Hello fellow AZ members,

Long time lurker, first time poster here and pretty new to the billiards scene.

I recently purchased a Brunswick Anniversary lot, which included a 5x10 table, original Brunswick rotating cue rack and original Brunswick score board.

The table and cue rack are in decent condition, but the scoreboard looks like it's in need of some moderate work - the chalk section has worn through, some paint chipping and some of the numbers are fading.

My question for all you veterans is should I decide to have these pieces restored, will it increase or decrease the value of said items? And is restoring something I should try and attempt myself (like slapping in new chalkboard paint to the scoreboard), or something I should leave to the professionals?

Based on no knowledege, my advice would be to go slowly with the restoration work.

Make each decision carefully. Restoration is something you can do at any time, but can never undo..

Forget the value. The decision should be based on what you want. Market "value" is only important if you plan to sell.
