To Schon or not to Schon

RJ,

Interesting take. If that was really the best answer, why do sooooo many posters on AZ trumpet the use of LD shafts? Some question how many pro's really use the LD shafts of the manufacturers whom they represent. Some state the LD shaft is far superior to a standard shaft. Some said to use a specific aiming system, an LD shaft is required. Frankly I still believe it's all marketing anyway. Perhaps Schon, Southwest and others don't make LD shafts as they find no advantage in manufacturing a me too product. In the end, it's the 5" space between the ears that makes or breaks the player. Not the equipment. JMHO.

Because some folks really like LD shafts, of course they are going to trumpet them.
And they can question all they want, but Allison and quite a few others play with LD, and that are LD.

I don't know of any specific aiming system where one shaft is better than another. But it's a lot easier using English, and it's a lot easier to compensate for deflection. In some cases, lets just say 3 diamonds or so, there is zero compensation for me. It goes where I point it.

Now, to be honest, I was a maple shaft user since my dads' poll hall days. I bought an OB shaft a couple of years a go, and figured if I did not like it, I'd just sell it on AZB or fleabag, and get most of money back. basically, a $30 or $40 gamble if I didn't like it. And yes, I had an OB shaft custom fitted to my Willie Hoppe Pro Model !!

Well, I liked it. No, I loved it. But again, not everyone will, and that's OK. Not everyone is convinced that Magic Chalk is the best, naïve fools that they are :D
