To the Cue Brains!!

The sentimental factor is hard to measure, but that aside, I'd say it is probably a fine cue.

I'd choose a sneaky pete for the same$, but the art would be gone...

Panther cue rating= 5/10
House cue rating+= 4/10

As a kid playing pool, I saved forever for a nice cue. I bought a Meucci as everyone where I lived had them. I had it for about a week. I hated the "whippy" shaft and vibration after I used english with it. I sold it and bought a McDermott. While it doesn't hit anywhere near as good as a custom cue, it still has that "solid" feel to it. Of course, this is merely my opinion, but I believe that McDermott sells one of the best production cues out there. The only one I've ever used that I liked better was a Joss, and I've played with quite a few. Hope this helps, and again, for all the nitpickers, this is merely my opinion.

BeeMan,

Just for the record, I, like you, am no expert on cues, but I own 2 McDermotts and that's all I play with.

The hit is solid even with the pro taper. They are both well-made quality cues. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

It comes with a Triangle tip, how could you go wrong? j/k McDermott cues are excellent production cues.

yes, it's a very good cue, but please hit with it first, and make sure, it feels natural in your hands. make sure it's not a struggle, to play with, but yet, the opposite, that it's "automatic"

As in golf, a good club swung with a good swing will feel like "nothing", it will just feel effortless. The same applies in pool with regards to cues. :)
