Hello I will play my first real tournament tomorrow in the FQSB(Federation Quebecoise des Sports de Billard) at B level. How is the feeling when playing in a real tournament?

its like breaking up with a girlfriend for the first time. ...no this is not a joke.

you'll feel like you are flowing in between heaven and hell, back and forward... enjoy the rollercoaster ride and welcome to the club

Good luck! I will be playing in my first ever league this year, but have about 6 solid years of pool playing under my belt, so Im not new to the game, just not taking things a lot more serious, not too sure where my learning curve is at...but Ill soon find out :)

everything will be fine, til you go to shoot your first ball!:D....then you might just puke in your shorts!....nah, just kiddin. Have a great time, slow down...take mental notes for the next tourney...

good luck, Gerry

Since it will be fresh in your memory, I suggest you tell us what you were feeling and how it went instead.

Good luck,

Fred

jsut remember that if you lose out quick its not the end of the world. awesome experience. i lose out wuick all the time, but i also place first everyonce in a while. have fun!!!

I dont know what tournaments [shark3129] plays in but dont shoot for fun shoot for the money!!! my motto; shoot pool for money---- have sex for fun!!!! you will be a little shakey at first, but remember to focus, keep your mind in the game!!! and good luck!!!! STICK

Sometimes when I play in tournaments with very strong players I will shake. One time my whole face was shaking from the nerves. I drank the night before and that wasn't helping matters. My nerves are shot what can I say.
The very worst is when I play above my speed while playing a strong player. Then the shakes really come into affect and I'm amazed I can even make a ball after that. Sometimes not. It depends how much I have had to drink. If I'm drunk and running out I really don't give a crap what I will look like if I miss an easy shot.
Pool is one of the toughest mental games out there. If you don't have nerves of steal your either screwed or you better get a stiff drink. What sucks is I dont like drinking anymore but I have no choice sometimes.:(

Did you ever bunjee-jump? The first time you don't even remember doing it. The more you do it the more nerves turn to excitement and you start to enjoy the view on the way down. Enjoy the thrill. It's a good thing. We were all there once and will be again.

If you get nervous and start shaking, relax and take a few deep belly breaths to get some oxygen into your muscles. Stay away from caffeine, drink alot of water. Keep your head down and your body still, and you will do good.

I just came back, I didn't win some $ but I won some racks

first match I totally dominated the player it was an easy win 7-4 ( I lost a game with 3 foul rules and another one with the 9 on the break)

second match I couldn't shoot good anymore.. I was losing 5-0, but I got a boost so I came back 5-5 but ultimately I lost 7-5

third match I lost 5-4 to a combo on the 9:o

I wasn't nervous but my game was not always as good as I wanted but hey, that's life!!

I was just saying that he has to have fun.I play alot of tournaments and win alot of the time.I didn't mean it to sound like I was saying not to play your hardest to win.I don't think I was very clear, and for that I am sorry. You still have to have fun when you play if you loose it is not the end of the world.
I would like to say glad you won some matches and just keep at it and before long you will be winning the whole thing.
