Anyone who has been to Ride the Nine in Bloomington, IL will probably remember Tony Lane, he has been the counterman since it opened. He has been in a wheelchair for 37 years due to lupus. He has started a Gofundme page and is asking for help. I have known him for 10 years and I know this is hard for him to ask for help.
Here is his page and a post from his facebook page. Please help if you can.

Well here I am doing something I never thought I would do.So much for never saying never.
As a lot of you who know me know that April 16th I had full shoulder repair done on my right side, left side to come later. This is not so bad if you are able bodied which again for those of you who know me know I am not.
I have been in wheel for 38yrs now(damn how time flies) with lupus that left me paralyzed from chest down.i have adapted pretty good and been able to live a very active and productive life,up in till Dec. 2012. At that time I had to have surgery on my tail bone. This was caused by a pressure sore that had tunneled down to the bone and was becoming bone cancer.
Because I am so thin I have had to deal with pressure sores most of my life. Even though I work very hard to avoid them. I have had over the years at least 4 to 5 major surgeries or flaps as they take muscle from one place and move it to the affected area. Because of this last one I've been confined to bed needing total care.
I am very lucky to such a wonderful family and good friends, that were willing to help. This kind of help can become both physically and mentally draining know matter how much they try not to let it. Eventually people have to return to their own lives and can only give so much.
I am lucky to have good insurance through my wife and it has helped beyond belief. How ever their guidelines for my kind of surgery and resulting rehab is based on being able bodied. This is where my problems come into play.
As I said earlier pressure sore cause a litany of problems that require that I stay longer at the rehab facility. I cannot help much with my care such as turning in bed from side to side(every 2hrs) and when up in my chair being able to relieve the pressure on my buttocks. There are chairs that help with this however they are very expensive and I don't have one.
What I need is help in paying for more time at the rehab center. The doctors don't even call for strength exercises on the shoulder until at least the 4th or 5th month. I absolutely have to be strong enough to at least lift my butt off of my seat and change positions. I have used all of my finances and what my family could do.
I would never have written this or asked for the help if it wasn't urgent and necessary. I have been able attain enough monies to only take me until next Wed.
The rehab center says after that I have to go no matter what. The cost for my stay is 250.00 a day.
So if there is anyway that anyone can help I would be beyond grateful. I really hate to ask especially since there are so many others far worse off.
