Tony Robles beats Santos then Bustamante last night

In an exhibition challenge match last night at Amsterdam Billiards, NYC, Tony Robles took on Santos Sambajon Jr in a straight pool match to 200 points. The winner was to play Fransisco Bustamante 9ball, 1 race to 11.

In front of an impressive spontaneous crowd, Tony defeated Santos 200 to 84, exacting revenge for his loss the last time the two squared off in NJ playing straight pool.

Immediately following that match, Tony continued his hot play, going back and forth with Bustamante, eventually going hill-hill. In a very exciting final game, and after a crucial miss by Bustamante, Tony Robles came out victorious.

Because all the participants had such a good time, I agreed, along with "master", to again sponsor a much larger event September 12th, 2005, the eve of the World Summit of pool.

I will keep you posted on the details.

A friend gave me a ring from ABC yesterday night at 11:30pm to come and sweat the action. I scurried as fast as I could from my Brooklyn apartment, only to see Bustamante, Sambajon, and Mhet walking out the door when I got there.

Too bad, I was going to bet on Tony and ask for odds. Be a rich man by now. :D
