Too Much Pity to Make Money?!

You should organize a tournament. Get 32 guys signed up. Everybody brings their financial statements and pay stubs. Based on them you redistrubute the total net worth of the field. You"ll need to make it a monthly event because the bottom 6 will find a way to get back down there. If anyone wants to, they can shoot a few racks for funzies.

I would sandbag my financial statement. :)

What am I missing here? Your avatar implies that you're a Christian but you're asking this question? Seems like a no-brainer.

If I knew someone was betting his rent or food money, I would say "no" and even suggest the guy leaves and takes care of himself. If he's hell-bent on gambling with his last dollar it won't be with me... I like to sleep at night.
We think the same way on this subject. I couldn't take a guys last dollar so I rarely gamble unless I know the guy can afford to lose what we are playing for. If he's trying to win my money I should try to win his!

If you cash every chance you get, you won't have much easy action for long. It will catch up to you for sure.

I have a very wealthy friend who refuses to gamble or play in tournaments because he doesn't want to take food off of someone else's plate. And yes, he can play VERY WELL.

Each to his own. It is up to each man to work out his own salvation.

Hey, they play Bingo in church! It's not about being religious. Betting is just a way to keep score and pique your interest in the game. You play better when something is at stake. Just know your limits and at what level your focus is highest to let out your best game.

Best,
Mike

I won a $100 single shot prop bet off of someone who I knew was in a bad spot in his life. I ended up leaving his money on the table. I'm no saint and I didn't even like the guy, but I. Wanted no more of that type of action right then.

Maybe my views on the subject has been colored by my experience in the gambling business at the track. I saw so many down and out types it got me down bad. One of our "patrons" was walking home one night after having won about $400 and was stabbed to death in the back. Seriously, all over a pittance.

I remember taking pity on another regular one really cold night and drove him home. Where did home turn out to be? A tarp and some wooden shipping pallets behind a dumpster.

I can go on, but you know how it goes.

Try not taking the money after you win

I did this one time and the guy wanted to fight. He said I was being cocky. He was drunk and it was not had to beat him at all. After that I never had the desire to gamble much. I came real close to loosing one of my best friends over it as well and never really cared for it after that either. Some around here that gamble only continue as long as they are winning and if you loose you hardly get a chance to get your money back
