Too quiet

A whole week (almost) has passed since the final two members of the IPT have qualified. When will the announcement be made how the 50 will qualify for the first tournament in July?

I imagine it will cost players only $1,000 to play in a qualifier. But then the ones who do qualify will have to pay another $1,000 to enter the tournament.

Then I imagine the players who do qualify will not have IPT Tour Cards for the rest of the year and if they want to play in the September tournament then they would have to requalify for it.

This was on the "Kevin Trudeau Speaks" CD:

"...at the end of the year, the top 100 money earners keep their tour card for the next year. The bottom 50 money earners lose their tour card. They have to re-qualify. Here is how we qualify those 50 openings on the IPT tour every year.
If you lose your tour card, you are like everyone else. Since there is only 50 openings, here is how we do it. We are going to have...100 qualifying tournaments all around the world, double elimination. The winner of the one side and the winner of the no loss side both earn a spot into a tournament consisting of 200 players. That tournament, the top 50 people in that tournament earn their tour card. It's a $1,000 entry fee into the qualifying tournament. There's no prize money. The prize is getting your tour card...."

And then, Kevin Trudeau elaborates, a little later in the audio:

"What is being a member of the IPT tour? Well, good news and bad news is this doesn't apply for '06 because we don't have enough tournaments, but the good news is 100 of you are going to keep your tour card for '07. Right? Unfortunately, 50 of you are going to lose your tour card. You may re-qualify, but 50 are going to lose your tour card. 100 of you are going to keep your tour card. So, for those 100 of you that keep your tour card for '07, that means in '07 you are guaranteed from the IPT a minimum of $100,000."

Does this explain it better? :p

He was referring to the qualification tournaments for the open tournaments, not tour card.

But thanks for the post regardless. I was wondering how players qualified for their tour card. But I am curious, if a player qualifies for the World 8 Ball Open and wins it what happens? Do they get a tour card for the next year? Do they get an invite to the next years tournament to defend the title? It would seem funny that the IPT world champion isn't even on the tour. This is a real possibility considering the amount of talent that has been left out of the tour.

I think what Jake has outlined is not too far off the original plan, although I very much doubt it will be $1000 to play in the qualifiers, I think it will be more likely be a modest amount of around $100, then if you win a spot you pay $1000. Otherwise it represents very poor value as it would cost the same ($2000) to play in 1 event as actually earning a full tour card!

<leaps onto soap box>

I'm hoping they listen to the voice of public opinion and condense these qualifiers into something fairer for all :D

Only 18 weeks left before the first Open tournament.

I am wondering how, and when, they will qualify the 50 non-IPT players for this tournament.

The announcement should be coming soon.

Can you imagaine how large the field would be if say they decided to award spots to the top 12 finishers? Who out there doesn't believe that he could finish in the top 12 of the available players?

Judging by the quality of fields in the last few quals I imagine quite a lot!!!

I was extreemly suprised by the field size of the European qualifier. For example Weert is pretty central in Europe, and the Euro tour is attracting full fields of 256 players now. Although the entry for a Euro tour is only $150ish dollars the overall cost of flying to the event, accomodation etc easily costs over $1000. The vast majority of the players on the Euro Tour are not on the IPT, so why didn't they get more entries? Many of the entries had won free spots and didn't the weert event offer money back to the top 5? I mean this qualifier was offering a Guaranteed 13k + Probable 100k + Profit Share!!!

I very seriously doubt you would get more than 256 field if the entry was $100 and the prize was simply entry in the first open event. If it's a $1000+$1000 like you suggest I would be very suprised if they got 32 players for every qualifier if they stick with the same format of only 2 spots per qualifier?

I think there is a little confusion going on here.

It's $1,000 to enter into each Open qualifier and if you manage to get through your into the main event.......at no extra entry fee cost.......and you're guaranteed $2k for US Open and $5k for the World Open.....also going by the forums, the original field of 150 has plenty of weak players so earning more than this should be a cert.

How they go about getting those 50 spots played is the question.

Also on the audio from Kevin (I'm sure I heard this).........if a player qualifies for any of the Open events....and manages to fight their way through to the final 6 players in the main event.......they get invited back to play in the TWO IPT Player only events for FREE.

With 1st prizes of $500k and $350k, I'd say thats value for money.
