Rodney Morris is from Hawaii, did he move here recently? If so he would definitly be ahead of Allison Fisher the same goes for Tony Watson.

BTW where did Rodney move to, Charlotte?

Yes, Rodney is living in Charlotte now.

Name a Northeasterner who has the heart to play anyone their own speed.

why dont you just ask George San Souci, Tony Robles and Frankie Hernandez how they like gambling with Tony Watson. Maybe then you will understand that Northeasterners have no heart or nerves or both.

I am not a yank...first off I think we should leave Robles out of the list of lock-up artists, as I don't think he gambles at all. Someone tell me if I'm wrong.

On a purely talent level, TW is no better than Ginky or Frankie...TW might be 3rd on that list. Whether all 3 players are getting staked or not, it makes no difference. If the bet is right, like at least 20 large, I would have to bet on TW. As far as other shortstop Yankees go, it takes an act of Congress to do anything with them, in my short experience.

I went to a tournament one time and tried to match up w/ a kid from NYC. He had booted me from the tournament earlier. I tried to get him to play 2 sets of 9-ball/one-hole or 14.1/one hole. He tried to get me to play just 9-ball or 14.1. Anyway, after the initial stall, I agreed to play 9-ball, and of course he did the crawfish shuffle.

I went to NYC a few months later on business and stopped in Amsterdam pool hall, and there is that kid again. He walks right up to me and asks me to play for a dime. I guess his stake horse did not want a piece, b/c the kid comes back and asks to play for a $bill...he loses one set and quits. How does the bet go from a dime to a dollar??? Funny thing is, I found out that the stake horse is a better player and he was happy playing in his $5 ring game. I was just looking for courtesy action, but he didn't want to play, either

in nine ball that is

1- Earl Strickland (of course)
2- Tony Watson ( one of the top 5 Americans, gambling wise IMO)
3- Sparky Ferrell
4- Keith Bennett
5(t)- Sam Monday
5(t)- BJ Ussery

Anybody else from the area have their own top 5 or so

Back to that list...NorthCarolinian, what makes Sparky a better player than Keith or Sammy? I don't think I've ever played BJ. Props to BJ for being able to put in his time at 2 jobs...I do the same thing.

And about Doug Young...is that the skinny, wiry kid. If that's him, and he's one of the best players, I gotta make a trip through South Carolina.

sc players

dont forget there are two great guys from north augusta(south carolina) that play pretty sporty....they are lenny and ritchie szmansky.....you can always go down there and get some action with them....they wont whine or complain but will match up and give you plenty to go after......they are relative unknown from what i see on here but shouldnt be overllooked......juston

As a whole I agree with you, senor. However, there are definitely exceptions to the rule. First off, you're right. Robles doesn't gamble, and I think he should be left out. As far as Northeasterners who will gamble fairly high (with backers of course): Kid Delicious, Jerry Slivka, Pat McNally (yes I know about his loss to Watson), Robb Saez, Allen Hopkins, Josh Brouthers, Corey Deuel (grew up in Philly), Jimmy Fusco, Pete Fusco, Jim Hill, Russell Parsons, Kevin Clark, and Joey Korsiak, to name a few.

By the way, do you know the "kid's" name who approached you at Amsterdam?

senor,

thats just my opinion. all three play close.

However if you ask Sam who the best in the state is he will pause for a second and " I guess you would have to say Earl, then me, then Tony and then Sparky or Keith" then when those guys are around he will change his tune.

He always claimed to be better than Tony and everytime they were in the same poolroom Tony would have a standing offer of the 8 and of course Sam would not take it. The last time they played Tony gave him the 7 and the break and robbed him and everyone else who liked Sam's side.

Btw, I did not know Rodney lives in Charlotte now.

Quickly my new top three
1-earl 2-rodney 3-tony

It's not you, is it, Back Pocket? The kid is Nick S. How's he hitten em nowadays? Is he still in school? If you're close to him, don't let him drop out for this silly game.

I was just asking b/c I've played those guys before. It would seem that Keith's nine ball is the best. However, Sparky has a helluva gear, and might be the best all around player of the 3, now that he can play a little one-hole.

senor, what is your record against each of those guys.
sparky and keith do not play that well in tourneys simply because they just dont care that is until their talent alone takes them in the money then you will see some effort.

That is not to say that if you beat them in a tournament you havent done anything, because you have.

And for the poster who asked about WV, no way is that a Northeastern state same for Kentucky

I've matched up w/ all of those guys playing on-hole. I've played Sparky the most, b/c he comes through the most. The only one I lost to was Sammy...go figure. It was bad day, and unfortunately, I haven't seen him since. Maybe it's fortunate, I hear he has money as much as the desert has water.

senor, if you dont mind, whats your name, if you do thats cool too. And where are you from?

IMO all three play the same speed in 9 ball, with Sparky and Keith having a little more firepower with Sam being a little more consistent.

Sparky and Sam play about the same in one hole also.

And yeah the desert does have more water than Sam has money. Sparky on the other hand will bet it up as will Keith.

The last time I saw Keith he gave McCready two games on the wire to eleven and let McCready have a designated breaker. He lost but again, at least he will make a game.

I kind of like it undercover, NC...but if you talk to Sparky, he can tell you. The 2nd time we played we were at an all night joint. He had me a little loser for a while, but somehow I ended up even when, out of nowhere, pool balls started flying around the room. I had to run for cover. I don't know why the fight started, b/c all these guys gamble w/ each other all the time, but six or seven guys were hurling balls like Nolan F****** Ryan...and the front door was locked, so everyone had to sneak out the back door...except Spark, he was begging me to stay and play! Crazy. That was sometime in 2001.

Tell him not to be a stranger, it's been a little boring around here and I can use a little tune up.

senor, so you find it easier to match up with guys from the Carolinas or players from the northeast, or are you from the northeast?
