top canadian players

It's a shame that the Canadian 9 ball tour didn't give expected support to the sponsors. Jimmy started something great that left a void out west when the sponsors didn't sign this year. I think most of the players here now are hiding in the casinos.

Tour was a great thing! Jimmy has started working with the CBSA so lets hope that relationship develops some great things for Cue Sports in Canada.

Gotta mention Brian Butler. Not world class, but he plays tourneys and cheap pool pretty good. I think he's living in NJ now. When he was living in Atlanta, he could hang with most top players, unless the bet got high:p . (Hope you read this, Brian)

There are a lot of good 8 ball players on the box in canada. A top 5 list for that would change a lot. The top 9 ball players are pretty straight forward. I have been keeping track of my buddy stan tourangeau lately and he's been finishing very well in big 9-ball and 10-ball tournaments lately. He's always been good on the box though.

Hi!, Tom here, please tell me who "frenchie" is? and jesse and I have never been road partners. I think he is way to smart to take an egg like me on the road! and the only road trip (plane trip) I've made in the last 7 years is to las vegas. I'm on a very short leash!

Steve Cherewick (sp???) has had some excellent finishes in the US Bar Box championships (a 2nd and a 3rd in consecutive years iirc) ... can any of our Alberta friends comment on how Steve's doin' these days (last I heard Steve was in Calgary) ?

Funny you mentioned Steve.I played him at a mini tourney before the vnea singles event a few years ago.I did not have a clue who he was,so i'm thinking ah I can take him in a race to 4.WRONG 4-0.3 run-outs.lol.He is a very good player.
He plays league here in calgary in an OPEN division. And its the best shots in calgary by far.The likes of Bernie Mikkelson, mark vinogradov,Russ Whittle,Ben Liu,Brad Whyte,Al greenlee,Russ Mckay,Scott Bevan,Gary Kirkland,P.J.Masicotte,Kevin Osborn,Pete Sky......And of course Edwin Montal.
Great players,ALL of them.

From what i heard from a few players, it looks like the state of pool in calgary is slowly dwindling. 8 ball players still have the league and various weekly tourneys to join, but, 9 ball players have not much to go to.

It would be great to get together sometime and play a few friendly matches. I chatted with pete sky and looks like the hideout is d place many players frequent. I would assume that JR's is also a popular place. I have not been to Q's but heard that it is a great place to go. Unfortunately, i live all the way at the NW where almost no good poolhalls exist. The closest to me is Mike's billiards; even here there was a few fights that broke off within the young crowd.
take care and happy new year!

I have beat a few on that list. They mostly play at the hideout so I don't get to play many. I just lost to P.J 11-9, 11-8. He ran 8 or 9 tables... Cant remember how many I had, 5 or 6 I think.

Is Larry Wilson out there? I know he can play good on the small table!
Larry Wilson is a great bar box player,I do believe he lives in nanamo b.c.
His wife Andrea plays a good bar box game as well.

he doesn't play in too many big tournaments these days because of work but I think hands down DANNY HEWITT is the most talented player in Canada
