Tournament organizer admits he gambled away all of the tournament prize money 😂

Definitely not a pillar of society.
If you can't see the stupidity in the stories you tell I'm sure you will get it how you live.
Run your mouth internet hero. I'm being punished with a house on the lake and about to retire at 60 with 2 pensions.....so bite me biatch.

the room owner and the person that put it on are both involved and profit from the event. so both are responsible for the money. and an easy small claims court or police report will make a big difference in getting paid.

to just let it go is foolish as you got cheated and stolen from.

just because a person takes what isnt his and the prize fund isnt his to keep;
it is a form of embezzlement and a felony which entails maybe jail time. so the person who stole it, not being a run away thief, is going to have a major headache and make it good.

it has no bearing on how he lost it. if it was stolen from the bar his insurance gets involved.
if an individual held it then it is felony theft.

You’re right about filing a Police Report, then hope the Cops feel your complain is worth their timer to investigate. Small Claims is another option, but then hope if you get judgement. The Judgement Debtor pays.

If not the work begins to see if the debtor has accents to go after. Another hard road.

Having a judgement is only a piece of paper saying someone owe you. If the person has nothing, well you’re noting going to get money out of person with no money.

Unfortunately , the only way to try and protect yourself financially in this world is to assume that for every honest person you deal with that a dishonest person also exists.
Sad reality today means that we do all due diligence possible on any transaction. Sometimes , like paying up front for things like a pool tournament - we either trust or opt to not participate- that trust will sometimes be violated - facts of life.
Today beating the hell out of the person who took your money will probably result in a much more negative result for you in law suits, etc.
