Hey guys I am going to be hosting pool synergy this month and the topic is Tournament Prep.

I wanted to get a feel from all of you as well what your pre-tournament routine is.

Is it drinking 3 raw eggs in a glass?

Is it practicing a million hours leading up to the event?

Is it freewheeling through ?

Would love to know how you get ready.

The reason why I post this here is because aside from one pocket I find straight pool to be the most mental game there is in pool and I would think that there would be a larger mental component to the prep.

Thanks

After my league match last night I think I know how to prepare:

1) 500 sit ups & sit downs on an elevated chair so I can prepare myself for quick and efficient racking so my opponent does not get out of stroke.

2) 5-7 hours of face time in front of a mirror to establish a "poker" face while balls roll perfectly into position during my opponents run.

3) 100 cue taps to guarantee a firm applause, but not an over stated one so my opponent is not disturbed.

4) Drink at least 1.5 gallons of water per day and hold it. This will ensure that in a race to 150, I will never get up to go to the bathroom.......I do not want to shark my opponent while he is busy.

5) 400 quite leg switches. It is very important to keep good circulation in your legs, on the outside chance my opponent misses.

6) 10 army crawl laps a night around my living room with my jacket on, and cue case over my shoulder. This is a must develop skill.............to be utilized after a severe pummeling at the table, to slither out the door at your pool room with out being noticed!

OK that is friggin hysterical tap tap tap.

I'll take a shot at this one
first: tell your wife, girlfriend and mother you love them very much
take out the trash, fix the garbage disposal, etc.
get the oil changed in the car.
feed the dog, cat or whatever other animals you might have.
take the kids out for ice cream.

on the morning of the event have a good breakfast.
now with a clear mind you are ready to go.
you might want to turn off the cell phone, although this can be a distraction if you are worring about what calls you might be missing. your call on this one
good luck

ForumGhost516.............sorry I was being a wise guy, and I may have killed your thread.

My real prep is working on confidence. Not any particular shots, just shots and or patterns I know I could repeat effortlessly. Also pocketing balls while focusing on my fundamentals.

Not to scientific, but I always feel the toughest part of competition is staying confident and focused. So my thought process is to build that part of game up as best I can prior to an event, thinking the stronger it is, the longer I will last!!
