Added $$$ isnt a choice, but thats the main draw for tournments, and checks that cash. There is nothing stronger to draw players to tournments than cash-its the whole point.

What could TD'S and ROOM OWNERS do that wouln't break the bank
(theirs or yours) to get you to come to their event.
For me I don't play pool for the payouts, I'm just not good enough (yet).
I JUST ENJOY PLAYING, so I would play in more events if the whole trip did not set me back $100.-150.

I think the answers here depend on where a player stands skill wise, experience wise, and otherwise. Many players won't enter a tournament if they think they have no chance to win; others yearn for the chance to play a powerhouse. Newer players may like trophies and other prizes; seasoned tournament players like cash and think trophies are a waste of it. Longer races favor the better players; they also make for a longer tournament. Lower entry fees may attract newer and lower skilled players, but the resulting lower payout may turn away other players.

I think you have to consider all angles and decide who you want to attract to your tournament. You generally can't attract everyone, no matter how hard you try or how you tailor it.

That's a HUGE drawback for me. I can't do it often and still maintain a relationship with my loved ones. I feel guilty and feel like I am taking something from them.
