Tournaments??

You may recall talking to a buddy of mine from here in Cincinnati, Billy C. He's been around pool all of his life, owned a pool room, and was one of the top players in Cincinnati for many years. He took an interest in 3C a couple of years ago and is now probably one of the top 3C players in Cincinnati, but we don't really have much of a 3C population. He's not in to computers and does not go on-line at all so he called upon me to ask if there was going to be another big tournament in Vegas this year? He bought tapes of the last one and really wants to go this year and probably play, if possible. Also are there any other tournaments you could recommend for him? I would have just emailed you these questions but I figured any info of this kind you'd have had for me would be of interest here as well.
My wife has a friend in Chicago who we'll probably be visiting in the next few months. Probably while the gals are occupied I'll be able to sneak away for a little billiard fun. I'll give you a shout and see if you have any time then. If you find yourself in the Cincinnati area be sure to stop by the shop.

A big one just started today in NY at Carom Cafe. I am hosting a smaller tournament in Chicago in September, and it would be a great opportunity for your friend to compete with a nice cross section of players, from average room players, to a couple top world professionals. No tourney in Vegas this year. Bob Jewett, who posts on this site all the time, was the man behind the Vegas tourney I believe. From what a local pool hall owner who knows Bob tells me, it costs Bob a good bit of his own money and a ton of his time so he decided to take a break this year.

Hopefully we can find a way to get the Vegas tourney going again without the burden being mainly on one persons shoulders. After the Sang Lee event happening now, I'm not sure the European players will have any reason to play in the US in the next few years if the Vegas event isn't around.

(Sorry Bob if anything I said was incorrect. L. Simon (Buffalo Billiards) told me you've worked real hard on the past events and you deserve a lot of credit. I also pm'ed you by the way offering to let you borrow my Rags to Rifleman book I noticed you bid on. 100 bucks for that book now is getting pretty steep)
