trading and dealing with the big dealers....

E-Bay has become such a crap shoot. I am to the point where I am not going to bid unless I know for sure someone COMPETENT has checked the cue, or at least it will be accepted for a return. I can't tell you how many "straight" cues there are out there warped a full 1/4" or more, it's disgusting.

Either that or like I do,only deal with sellers that you have come to know over the years and know that they will be straight up in there dealings. It seems like since the market is down some sellers will say what ever it takes to sell a cue now.But getting back to topic,These retail prices are prices that are rarely ever paid for a cue anyway, they could be way low or way high depending on supply and how hot a cuemaker is at a specific time. When ever I have delt with a dealer if its close(a few hundred or alittle more) to what I might get if I happen to find the right buyer than if I really want to do a trade than thats what I gotta do.I have seen some of the cues I have traded to cueaddicts, joe salazar, still for sale at there booth 2 years after a deal so I have to say they are taking a big gamble also when they do accept a trade.Whats hot one month could be hard to sell the next.

Charley,

Not to reopen an old can, but another thing that consumers who approach dealers at shows don't consider is that dealers open themselves up to problems by taking gambles on cue trade-ins at shows. If a cue somes in off the street and the lineage is unknown, it could end up being "hot". That's something none of us ever want to be part of.
