travel advice needed

I am on my way to Korea for a year and I was thinking of packing my case and cues in my suitcase but not sure if i should just have my wife mail them to me once i get there....what you guys think?

Have them mailed to you, and insured.

Luggage gets lost easier than insured mail does, IMO.

Don't travel with or ship cues with ivory, there is that chance/risk of it being confiscated.

You will most likely get nailed with customs duty if you ship it to yourself overseas (this will be based on the insured value), and you might have to go to the post office to pick it up (where it can sit in a very hot/cold room for days depending on the time of year you ship it) rather than being able to have it sent to your address.

Given the choice, I would always carry a cue in my suitcase (to Thailand, where I live) rather than ship it (granted, I haven't had any problems after doing that several times- other people tell a different story).
