This all starts the night before...........
So I've been running into a small issue that maybe some of you guys have and can offer a tip or something to help. My home pool hall does not have a tournament so when I go to play I end up traveling anywhere from 45-65 miles to play in one. The problem I seem to have is either being antsy, or just can't to really get into the game after traveling so much. So my questions are when you travel what are some of the first things you do ? When getting on the table are there shots in particular you try and shot first to get you comfortable ? Or anything else you can think of that has helped you or somebody else ? Thanks in advance...

Make sure you get 8 or 9 hours of sleep the night before. Have everything prepared for the next day. Wear sun glasses to keep the sun out of your eyes. If you have a friend that is going with you have them drive.
Once you get there just sit back for a few minutes and close your eyes and relax. Driving is stressful. It's like you already played a tough match. You need to get your focus and concentration where it needs to be.
Now go in and see how fast the tables are and focus on learning how they play if you can. And when you play.
Take little naps inbetween matches in the car. This will help you restore the energy that you used during the drive. Think of your body and mind as a battery. It will only last for a while. You need to get it to last a little longer than awhile.
Don't eat the food there either. Too many carbs can really screw up your game. Learn what has carbs and what doesn't. You need some carbs but not too many and not the carbs that go into your body like a rocket. Think of it as some carbs are like the fuse on a firecracker. The carb foods that are like a fuse are like potatoes,white bread,soda,energy drinks,pasta,crackers,anything with sugar in it like candy bars,pie,cake,pizza. These items raise your blood sugar real fast. The problem is your body burns them real fast. So this is why I say the are just like the fuse and then BANG. Nothing left. The energy tank is empty.
The solution is to just eat some more but now you are getting too many highs and lows with your blood sugar. This will wear you out also.
If you don't feel good you won't play good.
